Kylemore Abbey - Co Galway
Nestled in the heart of Connemara, in the rugged west of Ireland, Kylemore Abbey is a haven of spirituality, serenity and education.
Originally built as a castle in 1867 as a gift for a beloved, the Abbey is set in a magical 1,000-acre estate and has a history of romance, tragedy, and engineering initiatives.
Home to a Benedictine order of nuns since 1920, the Abbey has beautifully restored period rooms and a very informative visitor experience, where you can learn more of the estate’s dramatic past.
There is also an award-winning 6-acre Victorian Walled Garden to explore, a stunning neo-Gothic Church, and after enjoying one of the lovely walking trails, great options for dining and shopping.
